How does it work?

Step 1: Prepare your quilt top
Preparing your quilt top properly before it is quilted is an important step. Following the guidelines in this checklist will help you know exactly what to do.
Step 2 : Submit the form
You will let me know what your quilting preferences are when you fill out the "Book a Quilt" form and submit it. Make sure you give me lots of details about your quilt. That will ensure I know how best to serve you. I will reach out to you once I receive your form to confirm everything.
Step 3 : Mail (or drop off) your quilt
Once you have submitted the form, and I have contacted you, you will mail, or drop off, your quilt. If you mail your quilt I recommend getting a tracking number. Once I receive your quilt, we will finalize all your choices.
Step 4 : Enjoy your quilt
Once your quilt is finished I will send you an invoice via email. When your invoice is paid in full, I will mail your quilt back to you or arrange for you to pick it up. When mailing, I always insure and track packages.

Quilting services I offer.

Quilting designs
With my new Bernina Q24 longarm machine, I now offer all over, edge-to-edge, digital quilting. Check out the Digital Designs page to see what kinds of designs I currently offer. Check back often because I am always adding new things to my library. If you don't see the pantograph you want and know the name of it, I would be happy to look into adding it to my library. You just need to make note of it on your "Book a Quilt" form. For standard density quilting the cost is $0.03 per square inch with a minimum charge of $50. I will work closely with you in deciding which quilting design will work best with the style, fabrics, and overall purpose of your quilt.
Batting options
I keep a wide variety in stock of queen size Quilters Dream batting. If you are interested, I can special order any of the Quilters Dream battings in any size or kind if needed.

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen sized rolls which are 93" wide, except in the case of special orders. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin). For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.

Shipping
I live in northern Nevada, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I recommend sending your materials enclosed in a plastic bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail or UPS, whichever is more economical. Both USPS Priority Mail and UPS shipping comes with $100 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to purchase any additional insurance on your behalf. I will add the shipping/insurance cost to your invoice. There is a $3.00 handling fee for every quilt shipped.
Quilt preparation
In order for me to do the best job possible on your quilt it is really important you take a few moments to prepare your quilt top and backing properly. Use this checklist to help you know exactly what to do.

-
Accurately measure your quilt top.
-
Make sure your quilt backing is 8" wider and 8" longer than your quilt top. For example, if your quilt top is 65" x 65", your backing must be 73" x 73".
-
Square up your backing so there are no uneven edges.
-
I recommend backing seams be pressed open to reduce bulk if possible.
-
Cut all loose threads, especially any dark ones that might show through to the front.
-
Label the top of your quilt and backing with a note. A piece of painters tape or a paper pinned will work great.
-
Give your top and backing one last fresh press before mailing or dropping off.
